Upcycle idea: Denim rag rug

Category

Rag rugs are an amazing way to repurpose unwanted textiles and old clothing, and this eco-friendly rag rug made from old jeans and leftover cotton yarn is no exception! It’s perfect as a sturdy bedside mat or a colorful indoor door mat. You can adjust the size of your rug to your liking, but keep in mind that the larger your rug, the more jeans you’ll need. This cute mat was made using two pairs of large loose-fit men’s jeans and lots of leftover cotton yarn scraps in a range of colors. Cotton yarn is ideal for this type of DIY because it’s sturdy and won’t stretch like wool or acrylic yarn can. If you have thinner yarn, you can double it up for added durability.
