Two updates

by

I recently made two updates to Crafts on Display that I’m excited to share with you.

Embedding Youtube videos

The first change I implemented is embedding YouTube content directly on my website for all posts that link to video tutorials. Instead of having to click on a separate link to access the tutorial, you can now watch it directly on the site. I’m surprised it took me so long to come up with this idea, but as they say, it’s better late than never! This not only saves time, but is also more user-friendly.

After all, YouTube is one of the most popular search engines in the world, and there are countless valuable tutorials out there that you wouldn’t want to miss!

I mean, take a look at these – they are impressive, aren’t they? 3D flowers embroidery / Macrame owl wall hanging / A disappearing pinwheel quilt tutorial / Cute raspberry seed beaded earrings. I’ve only scratched the surface with these video tutorials – there are loads more to discover on the site!

Improving copyright practices

The second update I made was disabling the right-click function on the featured photo in each post (which prevents unauthorized downloading or usage of the photo) and adding a second link to the original tutorial. Now, when you left-click on the featured photo, you’ll be directed to the tutorial page, making it even easier to access and enjoy the content.

As a blogger myself (check out my sewing blog icansewthis.com!), I understand the importance of copyright and take it very seriously. In fact, managing copyright is undoubtedly the most challenging aspect of running a website like this. It’s essential to me that I share other content creators’ photos in the best possible way, and this change ensures that I’m doing just that.

I want to make it perfectly clear – this place is all about helping DIY bloggers get discovered and providing daily inspiration for all crafting enthusiasts. My goal is to create a friendly space where creators can showcase their work and connect with like-minded individuals.

Also, I’m just an ordinary person with a family and kids. Like you, I value a good night’s sleep and try to keep things simple. While I do have a few lawyer friends, I prefer to catch up with them over a glass of wine or a pleasant walk in the park instead of discussing complex adult life problems. I’m sure they’re already busy enough professionally!

Even though you don’t know me personally, I can tell you that I was that serious kid who acted mature for her age, even though I was probably the youngest child in my class from primary school to high school. And although we’ve never met in person, I hope this gives you a little insight into who I am and what I’m about.

Plus, I absolutely love what I do here – finding amazing patterns and tutorials is like a treasure hunt for me! I plan on doing this for a long time to come and providing you with the best possible experience.

Before I wrap up this post, I also want to note that Crafts on Display had already been following good copyright practices (please check our Editorial Policy). Just so you know, all the tutorials you see here are either posted with permission from the original sources or shared directly by them. We always give credit where credit is due, because it’s really important to us that content creators feel comfortable with how their work is being used.

We’re all in this together – our success is tied to helping others succeed!

Overall, these recent updates have made this blog more user-friendly and better equipped to support content creators in the DIY & crafting world.

I’m excited for you to check out these changes and continue to follow along with Crafts on Display. Thank you for your support!

All the best,
Violeta
