Make your own circle skirt: all ages + sizes, easy DIY

Learn how to sew your own DIY circle skirt with an enclosed elastic waistband using this easy tutorial from Made Everyday. You can make the skirt for any age or any size – the process is simple and fun! To determine the radius for your waist circle, you can use either your waist measurement or hip measurement divided by 6.28. For kids, it’s recommended to go with the waist measurement, while for adults, the hip measurement or waist measurement plus 2 inches can work.

To create the waistband, cut a strip of fabric measuring 3.25″ by the circumference of your waist circle plus an additional 4 inches. Once pinned to the skirt, trim off any excess fabric. If your fabric isn’t wide enough for a full circle, you can cut two half circles and sew them together with a side seam, allowing for the addition of pockets. Circle skirts are fun to make and wear, resembling a giant scrunchie. The video tutorial makes the project accessible for beginners. If you prefer written instructions, there is also a helpful blog post with all the info you might need, along with step-by-step photos.
